For two incredible weeks, GCP Netherlands students partnered with the University of Groningen and the AI Foundation to work on real-world consulting projects for Royal Avebe , FC Groningen BV, Researchable, OmniWind Energy Systems, LLC
and Powerchainger.
Students spent the program diving deep into company and industry research, meeting directly with company partners to better understand the scope and challenges of each organization, and collaborating alongside Dutch students from Bas Baalmans’ program who were working on similar projects. Throughout the experience, they also participated in workshops focused on Entrepreneurship, Dutch Culture, AI, and Leadership.
Beyond the classroom, students experienced the Netherlands firsthand by immersing themselves in the town history and culture… including a day in Amsterdam visiting the
- Anne Frank House
- Touring Heineken Headquarters
- Brunch at a Dutch pancake house
- Canal tour through the city.
Earlier in the week, students also met with the CEO of Baxbier in Groningen, giving them a unique opportunity to compare the operations and strategy of a small local brewery with a global company like The HEINEKEN Company.
The experience culminated at FC Groningen Stadium, where students toured the facility, participated in workshops, and pitched their projects in a “Dragon’s Den” style setting to prepare for final presentations held on May 22 in the historic Senate Room of the University of Groningen Academy Building. Students presented in front of university faculty, students, colleagues, and industry partners from across the Netherlands.
Congratulations to Team PowerChainger for taking home the top project award, and to Kasielle Carroll for earning Best Dragon’s Den Pitch and MVB (Most Valuable Bobcat, as voted on by her peers) honors!
What an unforgettable experience filled with innovation, collaboration, leadership, and global learning. 🌍💡
Thank you to for offering amazing opportunities like this for hundreds of OHIO students each year and to all of our incredible partners for sharing this experience with such amazing Bobcats.
