Every year, Books for Keeps distributes 75,000+ books to over 6,000+ elementary students. At our school-based Pop-up Book Fairs, every child has the opportunity to personally select 12 new, high-interest books that they want to take home for keeps, one for every week of the summer 📗📘📕📙📗📘📕📙📗📘📕📙
All books are provided at no cost to kids, families, or schools, thanks to YOU! Our community of donors helps make this possible, starting with our Refill the Shelves campaign each summer!
We have a big goal to raise $10,000 to get books back onto our shelves that we can give to kids across our community, and we'd love your support! 💛

Last Friday, staff got to join the GSAE Annual Meeting at because we were selected as their non-profit partner benefiting from the proceeds raised by their Pay the Pig raffle 🐷🐖🐽
And y’all, WOW! The attendees raised over $6,000 to support joyful experiences with literacy in our community!

This past year, we had 7 staff members (+ 3 lovely interns), 778 volunteers, and 17 school sites all working together to spread joy around reading AND we provided 132,213 FREE books across our community!💖💪🥹
We had a lovely time getting to celebrate our volunteers last week as we head into summer!!! Thank you for donating the space, and for the grub!

We’ve been so excited to share about our recent recognition by the Georgia Council on Literacy with a 2026 Georgia Reads Community Award and a $20,000 investment in our Storytellers Program.
The extra fun part? We got to bus Fowler Drive and H.B. Stroud 1st and 2nd grade students to the district office to receive one of Malcom Mitchell’s book and do a read aloud with Malcom himself! (Plus, we got 700 additional books to use in our book access programming!)
We think the impact and how we got here is worth shouting from the rooftops, and it’s special to see others agree!

Thank you , our staff that work to make this happen, teachers that coordinate day in and day out, and our 140+ literacy mentor volunteers that show up WEEKLY for their students.

Another school year is wrapped! Our small team of 6 would NOT be able to make our mission happen without the hundreds of volunteers, community members, school partners and donors going out of their way to support this work.
