Graduate Highlight: Fallon Jones, Social Work Club President

I grew up in Athens Tennessee, and transferred to Tennessee Wesleyan my sophomore year. Junior year, I changed my major to social work. With the exceptional guidance of the faculty in the social work program, I was still able to graduate on time. Throughout my time at Tennessee Wesleyan, I worked with everyone from those in the very beginning of their life to those at the very end. I had opportunities to become involved politically, educate people on important policies, work in public school, work with senior citizens, work at a counseling center, and complete my senior year practicum at department of children’s services.

Because of this program, I am able to pursue my masters degree in social work with a concentration in school social work. I am employed at the Centenary in Chattanooga for the summer, which is an inner city ministry working with elementary aged children. Following that, I will complete my masters degree in social work at Southern Adventist University with a concentrationI in school social work. I will be a project raise participant where I will complete my internship in a rural school & be employed as a school social worker in the state of Tennessee for 2 years following my internship. I am so grateful to have received my bachelors of social work degree from Tennessee Wesleyan university.

Graduate Highlight: Mikah Bradley

Growing up in Athens, I always told myself I would never attend Tennessee Wesleyan-I wanted to move away and never look back. But after leaving for a larger university, ultimately stepping away from school altogether, and return home to start my own family, I realized that TWU offered exactly what I had been looking for all along.
Starting my bachelor's degree in social work at TWU turned out to be exactly what I needed, even though I didn't realize it at the time. The small class sizes, personalized attention from professors, and being close to home created the ideal environment for me to thrive. I'm incredibly grateful that I was able to pursue my dream, engage deeply with my local community, and building strong relationships with community partners.
This program led to a job opportunity through my internship that I am so excited to start. Being a BSW student at TWU helped me reach my goals while allowing me to stay rooted near my family. I am humbled and proud to have earned my BSW degree from Tennessee Wesleyan University.

We are grateful to all the contribution from Athens Health Connect America, DCS, and our Field Education Director with our social work students this year! The rocks describe our seniors who are both moving on to pursue their master’s of science in Social Work!
