Next Thursday we'll meet again! We had so much fun last time getting to know each other and playing Apples to Apples! People are welcome to bring a game to share again this month! The conversation topic this round is "How to self advocate" Like, how do we talk to our teachers about stuff or let the person at the restaurant know our order is wrong? Nobody is required to participate in the discussion. This topic was chosen by a member of the group last session! If you haven't signed up previously, go here: https://forms.gle/mRSo3Y9wtj51fRVx5

Every kid at youth group will get a social battery pin to let others know how they’re feeling that day and a name badge where they can display some of their likes and dislikes! I’m hoping we can make some flair over time for the lanyards so everyone can really show their interests!

Waverly is a top notch human and music therapist. ❤️

HI!

My name is Waverly Noble and I am the owner of Classic City Music Therapy, LLC! I received my BM in Music Therapy from the University of Georgia in 2023 and did my clinical internship at Healing Hearts Music Therapy in Tallahassee, Florida. I have also been an early childhood music teacher at for about two years!

I found out about music therapy freshman year of high school and was hooked on the idea of becoming a music therapist ever since. I am very passionate about creating neurodiversity affirming spaces and making every client feel seen.

When I’m not practicing music therapy, I can often be found enjoying one of the many amazing restaurants Athens has to offer with friends or hanging out with my cats, Banjo and Coda.

I can’t wait to meet you & explore how music therapy could work for your family or facility!

When I'm talking to clients or I'm in a situation where I need to keep track of information, I'm taking notes. Note taking is actually a wonderful way to stay engaged in listening. (Assuming you are not just writing verbatim without processing the info).

When I need to stay engaged but I don't need to take notes, you'll find me doodling. This is the product of an hour long conversation where I was problem solving and providing information (that I had written down elsewhere) to a friend. Doodling helped keep my focus on the conversation.

Problem solve with your kids the different ways they can stay focused when their mind wanders! It really happens in lots of ways! Note taking, doodling, fidgets... all things that might not be the appearance of paying attention can actually be helping.

I've shared my favorite student paper planner in the past. A parent brought one of these to me recently and I am in LOVE with the way it's set up. I think this planner is perfect for people who have a lot to manage and need to have a way of taking stock of, prioritizing and scheduling tasks.

20 minute visual timer 07/13/2023

I encourage many of my clients to use visual timers as a way to stay on task. Visual timers help remind us that time IS passing and that we can get through this allotted time. Keeping it in your field of vision can remind you to get back to work when your mind wanders or when you impulsively want to check your social media. Honestly, I have to use these anytime I read ANY book. If you're working on your computer, try using one of these videos minimized and in the corner of your screen! You can browse tons of visual timers on youtube.

20 minute visual timer This is a 20 minute visual timer. It runs quietly till reaches 0:00 with a soft notification sound, this VISUAL TIMER is perfect to use for any activity, set...
