Generously donated by Carrie and Dana’s close friend Bryan Moore, this is an original Wes Freed poster for the Drive By Truckers’ annual Homecoming show at the 40 Watt club from 2013. It’s signed by band members Patterson Hood, Mike Cooley, Brad Morgan, Jay Gonzalez and Matt Patton. ‘Years ago, at another fundraiser auction, Carrie and I were battling one another for this item, which Carrie eventually won. When visiting her and Dana’s, I would good-naturedly poke fun about her “stealing” it. Recently, Dana gifted me this print, given my history with it. Moreover, it was given to me at a reunion of former Cedar teachers who were all part of the same tight group that knew Carrie, making it even more meaningful. As special as this is to me, it occurred to me last weekend that donating it to the auction would be a great full circle moment, so with Dana’s blessing, here it is again to help others in need.’ “If the recently departed make the sunsets To say farewell to the ones they left behind There were technicolor hues to see our sadness through As the Sun over Athens said goodbye” “Grand Canyon” - Drive By Truckers.
