There’s a new MT-BC in Georgia! Congratulations to Adelaide Mangum, MT-BC on passing her board certification exam! Adelaide is currently working to start a music therapy program at Lawrenceville-Suwanee School of Music while also providing services at Ridgeview Institute-Monroe.

Last week, Professor Stull presented a research poster on her work using music therapy to address the psychosocial needs of family caregivers at the 4th Biennial Conference on Caregiving Research in Salt Lake City, Utah! Sponsored by the University of Utah College of Nursing and the Family Caregiving Collaborative, it was a wonderful opportunity to share the benefits of music therapy with an interdisciplinary audience and engage in meaningful conversations with professionals working to support caregivers.

Congratulations to Lizzie Digiovanni, MT-BC (BM ’20) for being named one of the University of Georgia’s 40 under 40 for 2026. Every year, UGA names 40 alumni under age 40 who are leaders in their field and community.

Meet Sophie Lieth, LPMT, MT-BC, NICU-MT! Sophie is one of our new graduate teaching assistants and will be working with our Piedmont practicum students on the oncology and hospice units.

Sophie is originally from Marietta, Georgia and earned her Bachelors of Arts in Music at UT Austin before earning her Bachelor’s Equivalency in Music Therapy at the University of Georgia. After completing her coursework, she went on to intern at Tallahassee Memorial Hospital in Tallahassee, Florida.

“I have grown a love for music therapy in the medical setting and am so excited to continue to develop my skills during my master’s degree at UGA! I look forward to supervising advanced MT students and gaining research experience.”

Meet one of our newest graduate teaching assistants, Makayla Potts, LPMT, MT-BC! Makayla Potts is from Stockbridge, GA and received her undergraduate music therapy training at UGA. She has experience working in private practice, serving children with disabilities and adults in oncology. 

Makayla is interested in researching ways to incorporate various creative art therapies and psychotherapies like Internal Family Systems and Psychedelic Assisted Therapy for clients to gain greater self-awareness and improve overall well-being. 

“I’m excited to be back in Athens, learning more about my passions, and developing my clinical and mentoring skills alongside other music therapy students! I will be leading music therapy groups at ESP this year. I look forward to working with our wonderful practicum students starting next semester!”
