This year has been filled with many ups and downs, but I’m not complaining! I have been blessed through the ups, but I have learned so much from the downs. When school gets busy, it has always caused me to stress. It has always led me to worry about if I’ll make that A or not. However, when I begin to feel overwhelmed, I remember what one of my professors told me on my first day of college classes. He said to “... take it one assignment at a time, and try your best. This is the only way you’ll succeed.” These words were so comforting to me, and they have helped me see more clearly during the moments school stress blinded me. Grades have always been important to me, but my sanity should also be, right? I have always been a go-getter, and as a homeschool student, I was that kid who tried to finish a week’s worth of school in a day (Yes, I was really that kid😳), but I have now learned that that can wear you down! Yes, I’ll always be a go-getter, but I have now learned to TAKE IT ONE ASSIGNMENT AT A TIME.
During my tutoring sessions, I always try to encourage my students to be the best versions of themselves that they can be. When I see that they are struggling with a math concept that we have been over a few times, I never want to make them feel ashamed because I remember how much I once wrestled with that very concept myself. Learning takes time. All people learn differently, but as long as you take it one step at a time or one assignment at a time, you will succeed.
