Happy hump day dawgs!🐪 Today’s student spotlight is Lottie Miller, ,who studied abroad in New Zealand and Australia!Hear what she has to say about her time abroad!🇦🇺🦘🇳🇿

“I visited New Zealand and Australia this summer with UGA’s Discover Abroad: Biology of the South Pacific Maymester program. I chose this program because it was geared towards STEM majors, centered around sustainability, and offered a super active program focused on experiencing a wide variety of natural ecosystems and landscapes. This program was especially exciting, marking my first time leaving the US. I loved that this program allowed me to hike or swim almost every day, and I found it so much more enriching to take in natural wonders while learning all about the plant and animal life in each place we visited. This program gave me a newfound appreciation for the Earth and its complex ecosystems and many new friends and memories that have only enhanced my experience at UGA.”

We hope you had fun at the study away fair today! Remember to make an appointment with an advisor. It’s not too late to study abroad!✈️🌏

From doing a farm stay on the country’s largest papaya farm, scuba diving in the Great Barrier Reef, camping in the outback, and cuddling with Kangaroos, you truly get to experience it all on the summer Australia program.”

“Over the summer, I studied abroad in Innsbruck, Austria. I chose this program because I had heard so many amazing things from previous students and noticed that it was really flexible with weekend travel. I got to explore the beautiful and quaint town of Innsbruck and travel to places like Florence, Amsterdam, Munich, Prague, and so many more. This trip gave me so much independence and further grew my love for travel and the world.”

Innsbruck applications are due December 2nd, but make sure to get them in at least a day before so the Office of Global Engagement has enough time to process your home campus approval!

Happy Thursday! Today’s spotlight is Blake Caviness who studied abroad in Prague!🇨🇿

“I participated in the travel writing program in Prague, Czech Republic. I chose this program because of its focus on photojournalism, which is one of my areas of interest. In addition, the city of Prague has a rich history and has been well preserved. I learned how to write and capture a different culture for an audience back home. The program gave me the opportunity to grow my photo skills and feel more comfortable shooting in public.”

Happy Wednesday Dawgs! Today’s spotlight is Amanda, who studied abroad in Scandinavia! Hear what she has to say about this unique experience!🇩🇰🇸🇪🇫🇮

“This May, I studied abroad with the inaugural cohort of UGA’s Entrepreneurship in Scandinavia program. Over three weeks, we visited Copenhagen, Denmark; Stockholm, Sweden; and Helsinki, Finland. We learned about innovation ecosystems and smart cities by attending conferences, visiting local businesses, and taking classes at foreign universities. I loved learning more about the region’s maritime heritage and how it impacts trade patterns today. Most importantly, though, I met some amazing friends through this program with whom I’m grateful to have been able to share this experience.”

“Over the summer, I had the opportunity to participate in UGA’s study abroad program in Cortona, Italy. This semester-long program was one of the best decisions I have made. Getting to experience Italian culture and immerse myself in historical architecture has broadened my knowledge and expertise, which will assist me in all my post-collegiate experiences. I would recommend this study abroad program to any students interested. Push yourself and do the things that make you uncomfortable!”
