🎉 EMU Celebration! 🎉

Our EMU Celebration is a special time to recognize the hard work, determination, and accomplishments of our Adult Education students. We celebrate milestones such as perfect attendance, learning new skills, sharing what students have learned in class, earning a GED, and receiving Northstar awards. Students are recognized with an Educational Mastery Unit (EMU) certificate for their achievements.

Each celebration also includes a speaker from one of our valued community partners. This time, we were pleased to welcome Kim Botteroff from The Salvation Army as our guest speaker. She will be using GED bags with ads from our program for her food distribution.

Most importantly, we celebrate our students for having the courage and determination to keep learning, growing, and moving forward.

💙💛 Friday — Celebrating Why Adult Education Matters

As we close out Adult Education and Family Literacy Week, we want to take a moment to celebrate the incredible adult learners who have made the decision to take that next step. New student Orientation is next week, Sep. 21-24. Please join us!! 1501 Riely, Atchison, 785-442-6202 or 913-442-6205

Adult Education is about so much more than earning a diploma or passing a test. It is about opening doors, building confidence, creating career opportunities, strengthening families, and changing lives.

Throughout this week, we have shared what Adult Education means to our students, our communities, and all of us at Highland Community College. Today, we simply want to say thank you—to our students for having the courage to begin, to our staff for believing in every learner, and to our community and workforce partners for helping make new opportunities possible.

AEFL Week may be coming to an end, but our work continues every day.

💙💛 AEFL Week – Wednesday: Changing Lives Takes a Team!

Adult Education doesn’t happen alone. Behind every student is a team of people and organizations helping create opportunities and remove barriers.

Today, we celebrate our instructors, staff, Career Navigators, workforce partners, employers, libraries, community organizations, and everyone who supports our students.

Thank you for believing in Adult Education and in the adults we serve. Together, we are Creating Pathways, Changing Lives. 💙💛

Tuesday — AEFL Week: More Than a Diploma! 🎓

Adult Education opens doors to so much more than earning a Kansas High School Diploma. It’s about building confidence, strengthening skills, preparing for the workplace, exploring career opportunities, and discovering what comes next.

At Highland Community College Adult Education, we meet learners where they are and help them create a pathway toward where they want to be.

Every new skill is a step forward—and your next step matters. 💙💛

Today, we celebrate our students!

Adult learners often balance education with jobs, families, transportation challenges, and many other responsibilities. Yet they continue to show up, work hard, and move forward. Monday’s AEFL Week message reminds us of the courage it takes to simply say, “I am ready to try again.”

At Highland Community College Adult Education, we are honored to walk alongside our students as they work toward new goals, build new skills, and discover new opportunities.

Every achievement begins with that first step—and we are proud of every student who takes it.

Stronger Learners. Brighter Tomorrows.
