Last Monday, we honored our 8th grade cross country, football, and volleyball players before the last volleyball game of the night. We are so proud of how hard our students have worked this season, as they had to overcome oppressive temperatures, injuries, and juggling practices and games while maintaining the grade expectactions of all student-athletes. Congratulations, Olivia Hansen, Anna Hunt, James Peitsch, Carter Bartlett, Carter Buckley, Jaxon Coady, JP Sprouse, Thomas Wood, Mylah Holtgrave, Reece Van D**e, Maci Andra, and Eme Eckert!
Our fall sports teams are wrapping up their seasons in the next few days. Our 7th and 8th grade cross country runners will run in the NEKL Middle School Championship at Jackson Heights on Monday. And our football team will play their last game of the season at home (Atchison High School) versus Jefferson West. They are coming off of a hard fought win in the rain yesterday versus Silver Lake, 56-36.
Tomorrow, our Lady Ravens volleyball team will play in the NEKL tournament. They are the #2 seed and take on the winner of the #7 Oskaloosa vs. #10 Riverside game at 10am at Effingham. Come on out and support our volleyball team tomorrow morning!

Today is Priesthood Sunday! We are grateful for all of the priests who dedicate their lives to serving the Church and all of Her people. We are especially thankful for our pastor, FrJeremy Heppler. Our students and staff love hearing his homilies and seeing him in their classrooms, at our sporting events, and many other school activities. Thank you, Fr. Jeremy, for being a joyful witness to the faith and for helping us all 🌱!

Last Tuesday, Mrs. Henning's class finished their unit on Johnny Appleseed with our annual Johnny Appleseed Day! Our 1st graders dressed up as Johnny Appleseed would have and enjoyed a number of games and activities about apples, his travels, and more. Thank you to all of our parent and staff volunteers who helped make this day special for our 1st graders!

Today, September 24, 2026 marks the 20th anniversary of the dedication of the primary-wing of St. Benedict Catholic School, formerly Atchison Catholic Elementary School. After a fire burned down the old ACES lower-school building at Green St. and U.S. Highway 73 in June 2004, over $2 million was raised to expand the ACES middle school building at our school's current location, uniting the elementary and middle schools into one building.
We are so grateful for the generosity and support of our St. Benedict Parish - Atchison Kansas and Atchison community all these years!
Thank you to St. Benedict's Abbey (Kansas Monks), Liz Hrenchir from the Atchison Public Library, and SBCS Publication students for these newsapaper clippings and photos!
