Maur Hill–Mount Academy is pleased to announce the hiring of Jose Licon as the next head football coach. Coach Licon brings seven years of coaching experience from Hugoton High School (3A), where he served as Offensive Coordinator and Offensive Line coach while also contributing to the baseball program as both an assistant and head coach.

During his tenure as Offensive Coordinator, Hugoton qualified for the 3A State Football Playoffs five times, including an 8–2 season in 2025 that marked the program’s best finish since 2009. His offenses consistently ranked among the top in 3A, averaging as high as 40.3 points per game and earning Top 10 state rankings. Under his leadership, the program broke the school record for most points scored in a single game (70) and produced multiple college recruits, including a Shrine Bowl selection. Coach Licon was also part of a 2019 District Championship team.

A former collegiate football player, Coach Licon competed at Garden City Community College and Tabor College, where he was part of two KCAC Championship teams and NAIA National Playoff appearances. He was a two-year starter at Tabor, helping the program achieve a national ranking as high as 8th.

Coach Licon holds a Bachelor’s degree in education and a Master’s of Education in Neuroscience and Trauma, has his ESL endorsement and currently serves as a middle school math teacher. Maur Hill–Mount Academy looks forward to the leadership, energy, and offensive expertise Coach Licon will bring to Raven Football.

Our alumni make a lasting difference at Maur Hill–Mount Academy. Through your mentorship, presence, and generosity, you help shape our students and strengthen our school community!

Dave '71 and Libby Domann are shining examples—supporting boarding student experiences like the Titanic museum, gate fees for students to attend tournaments, serving on our Board of Directors and committees, and showing up for games and school events together. Their commitment reflects the powerful impact alumni have when they stay connected to students and former classmates.

Thank you to all of our alumni for investing in our students, our mission, and each other. You make Maur Hill–Mount Academy stronger.

✨ Can you believe it’s almost 2026? ✨

As we approach the close of the year, we’re reminded that the greatest gifts shape lives far beyond today.

Our hearts are full of gratitude for our Raven community who believe in Maur Hill–Mount Academy and its mission. Because of you, Catholic education is making an impact far beyond our campus—shaping lives here in Atchison and around the world.

Beautifully shared by Douglass Adair, "The Adair/Exchange Bank Foundation supports Maur Hill-Mount Academy and its mission due to the impact the school had on at least three of our (alum) employees. The school helped each of us and we are grateful to give back. The rich, diverse experience the students receive - learning side by side with boarding students from many different countries - is rare and truly special. We are so blessed to offer a global, Catholic education, in Atchison, Kansas."

You can make a difference! Your support strengthens our Benedictine mission and ensures future generations receive the same life-changing education that has impacted so many before them.

Wishing you a safe, joyful New Year and a blessed start to 2026!
