Cruise night was a success! Great cars, community, and camaraderie. So fun to have it pass right by the studio! Thanks for everyone who came out to say hi or hang. 💛

The 33rd annual Hot El Camino Cruise Nite is tonight from 6:30-8:30 pm! Parking is very limited - get here early! We will be having a members and friends potluck to watch the cars cruise past the studio. It should be a super fun night.

Elena’s back from Greece where she trained under Greek artisans in a coiling technique so old the Ancient Greeks used it for amphorae, and she teaches it like she was born doing it. Thousands of years of pottery history, one instructor who trained with the people who still practice it. Doesn’t get more one-of-a-kind than that.

Our last group of color explorers loved that class and asked for a second round. If you missed it the first time, come try it this time! You'll learn how to color your clay and slips with mason stains and try out a handful of projects with guidance from Lyza

Curious about Sgraffito? Come learn with us how to hand build a tray or plate and transfer an image onto the clay to then carve away the negative space. This is a beginner friendly workshop but experience potters are sure to learn something new as well. Our first workshop is August 29 from 1-3 pm

Kurinuki is a traditional Japanese technique of carving away the clay and one of my favorite forms of handholding. You start with a solid block of clay and carve away until you find a perfect balance. Comment below if you are interested in learning this with me at The Pottery.
