Let’s be real. Sometimes the ability levels in a couple varies.

I’ve had brides come in ready to WOW people, but their groom was having trouble keeping up.

There’s always a middle ground!

This intro is great. The bride gets to show off right off the bat while the groom stands there looking like he knows what he’s doing (while barely moving)

1. Take a few steps forward while looking at each other (so it doesn’t look performative)

2. Brides, start walking around your groom (keep a loose arm)

3. Grooms give your bride a twirl before she gets in front of you

4. Lasso your arm around your head and help her complete the circle.

5. Step naturally into your first dance hold

Easy peasy.

Brides, save this and tag your groom!!

Show them that they have potential!

Avoiding penguin energy is easier than you think…

Shuffle your feet.

Not pick them up. Not step. Shuffle. Like you’re two drinks in and feeling loose.

Or you just woke up and don’t have the energy to fully walk (whatever image fits you better)

When couples lift their feet completely off the ground they start waddling.

It looks Stiff. Disconnected. Full penguin.

But when you keep your feet lazy and close to the floor you naturally get closer to your partner. Your movements get smaller. And smaller actually looks better. It doesn’t look like you’re trying so hard.

You’re not here to win a dance competition. Let yourself be relaxed and focus on being close to your person.

I see it constantly when couples first start.

The hesitation. The shuffle. The silent panic that is absolutely going to end in a scuffed up Jimmy Choo.

There’s a simple fix.

Stagger your feet.

Groom: right foot goes between her feet. Left foot on the outside.

That’s it.

You can actually get close to each other without a collision.

You can move around the floor without snatching your feet out of the way constantly.

One adjustment. Thirty seconds to practice. Zero casualties.

Comment DANCE and I’ll send you my free First Dance Confidence Framework and get you started with even more tips!

Dance lessons are always the last thing on the to do list. And by the time couples get to it, the budget is gone.

Here’s what I want you to remember though.

The flowers. The glowsticks. The photo booth props. Amazing. Worth it. But they last the span of a party.

You’re not going to be 50 years old looking at the glowsticks with tears in your eyes.

But you could be dancing in your kitchen to your wedding song. On a random Tuesday. Because you actually learned how.

Dancing isn’t just the two minutes on the dance floor. It’s a skill. It brings you closer. It’s something you actually keep.

Don’t lose sight of the romance in your marriage while planning the wedding!

Comment DANCE and I’ll send you my free First Dance Confidence Framework so you can get started with a new lifelong skill.

You’re spending how much on a photographer?

It’s a crazy amount, and you’re doing it anyway. Because it matters.

Here’s what nobody thinks about though.

Your first dance creates some of the best photos of the night.

Because you’re not posing, you’re not holding your smile or placed perfectly in front of the flowery backdrop.

It’s because you’re completely focused on each other. Laughing, moving, doing something you actually worked on together.

That’s when photographers get the best shots!

Or you could sway for two minutes and get the same frame from six different angles. That’s cool too I guess.

Your photographer is going to show up either way. The question is what they’re capturing.

Don’t waste a perfect moment, comment FLOW and I’ll get you started with my free Framework. You’ll have better pictures in no time!

You go in for a $20 trial lesson at a ballroom studio.

You learn a basic step. You felt good.

You thought “okay, maybe we can do this.”

Then they sit you down.

“Great news. Lessons are only $65. BUT there’s a minimum of 10.”

You ask if 10 is necessary to learn a simple routine, but then they say

“Don’t worry, the first 5 are just technique. foxtrot, waltz, rumba. Then we’ll start on your actual song.”

So you’re spending around $300 and five lessons learning styles you will never use again before you even touch the dance you came in for.

All while working full time and planning a wedding.

Here’s the thing about ballroom, it was never designed for people who just want to feel good dancing to one song at their own wedding.

It was designed to create ballroom dancers.

You need dance moves that feel natural, look great in photos, and work for the rest of the night when the dance floor opens up.

That’s it.

Don’t fall for the bait and switch…

comment NATURAL and i’ll send you my free anti-ballroom course. it’s what i teach every couple who comes to me after getting burned by another studio…
