Thanks for hosting our farm field trip, James and Janae Jasper! Everyone had a fabulous time!

HCA students made a binder of letters and pictures (samples below) for the Astoria Police Department in honor of Police Appreciation Week. The cover is decorated with their whimsical fingerprint art. We know that officers and their families make a lot of personal sacrifices for a difficult job that is often under-appreciated, and we hope this brought a smile to their faces. Wow! Our fabulous parents put on an amazing spread and celebration for our Teacher Appreciation Week! We were all treated to a delicious brunch of pancakes and chocolate chip pancakes with syrup, homemade whipped cream, and fresh strawberries, bacon, sausage, and farm-fresh eggs.😋 There were gift baskets for all the teachers:

Teachers can be sneaky! Especially when they see an opportunity to work with small groups.😉

After 3 straight hours at a computer, Principal Grauff needed a walk around the block before the gusty breeze turned the beautiful sunshine to rain. Thinking she would ask a teacher to select one student who was working independently for some 1-on-1 bonding time, she let Mrs. Madill know. Mrs. Madill didn't have any students to spare, so the next stop was Mr. Madill, who chose a student who was finished to come out in the hallway. Somehow, that student was quickly joined by several others, and then Mrs. Madill changed her mind and also sent a few out into the hall. By the time we reached the door, 9 students were ready to go!

We had a great walk around the block on a sunny, windy day--and the children even had time for a quick race on the kickball field. What a fun group of students!

This is a belated post about our Latin Elegance auction over a week ago. It was a wonderful event, thanks to the hard work of so many volunteers, the generous donations of businesses and individuals, and the over 100 people who attended and bid generously.
