We are excited to introduce our Associated Student Government leadership at Clatsop Community College. Help us welcome Sophie Alsbury as our incoming ASG President and Ezekiel Duchene as our incoming ASG Vice President. Fall term starts this coming Monday, September 21st, and Sophie and Ezekiel are ready to welcome all the students back to CCC.

Please join us in welcoming Beth Van Elswyk to her new role at CCC as the Interim Executive Director of Workforce Innovation and Partnerships! Beth's new position will help advance the College's programs related to trade industries.

In her new role, Van Elswyk will provide leadership for the College’s career and technical education programs which includes oversight of the Maritime, Welding, and Automotive programs based at the Marine and Environmental Research and Training Station, known as the MERTS campus. She will also assist in helping the college expand Career Pathways opportunities, strengthen industry partnerships, and support workforce-related advancement through grants, fundraising, and corporate partnerships.

We are excited to see Beth bring her experience, dedication and relationship-building skills to MERTS, the trades and this important area of the College’s work. Congratulations, Beth!

Clatsop Community College’s impact reaches far beyond the classroom.

A new economic impact report found that CCC adds $118.8 million to the Clatsop County economy and supports 1,450 local jobs—equal to one out of every 19 jobs in the county.

From preparing skilled workers to increasing alumni earnings and supporting local businesses, an investment in CCC is an investment in our entire region.

Calling All Artists:
Clatsop Community College is pleased to announce a call for entries for the seventeenth annual international juried exhibition, Au Naturel: The N**e in the 21st Century. This highly regarded exhibition will be on view in the Royal Nebeker Art Gallery from January 21 through March 11, 2027, with a community reception on Thursday, February 18 at 6:00 p.m.

Open to artists worldwide, Au Naturel invites contemporary interpretations of the n**e human figure in drawing, painting, and printmaking, ranging from representational approaches to abstraction. The exhibition places particular emphasis on the handmade mark and the expressive, conceptual, and formal possibilities of the human form. This year, a limited number of three-dimensional works will also be considered. Please see the application for size and weight restrictions.

Congratulations to the students who completed Clatsop Community College’s first Skilled Trades Foundations program giving young people ages 16 to 24 an opportunity to explore HVAC, plumbing, electrical work and construction through hands-on training and workplace experience.

This intensive summer training opportunity centered on heating, ventilation and air conditioning systems while also introducing students to plumbing, electrical work, construction and other skilled-trades careers.

The program, funded by the Youth Development Division Job & Work Readiness Grant, was created to help people ages 16 to 24 explore the trades, develop practical skills and prepare to pursue employment or apprenticeship opportunities. Students completed approximately 80 hours of classroom and shop instruction, OSHA 10 safety training and, for those who continued into the work-based learning portion, approximately 80 hours with local trade partners.

Of the 21 students who began the program, 19 completed the training, and 16 were placed with nine area businesses for paid internships or job-shadow experiences. Several emerged from the summer pursuing jobs or apprenticeships in the trades.

The program was designed to give students a realistic introduction to the expectations and opportunities of working in the trades. Students were expected to attend regularly, participate fully, work safely and approach each day with the professionalism required on a job site.
