This week kicked off our second unit focused around painting and printmaking this week!

We enjoyed playing with Gecko pencils and tempera paint cakes on wood. Gecko pencils are versatile and layer so nicely on top of each other.

Reminder that this unit is full. Spaces tend to fill up quickly but don’t fret, units only last 2 months so if your child didn’t make it in this time around please email us to get on our waitlist for next unit that will begin in February.

Thanks for your continued support!

Art Room had so much fun creating a story scroll with instruction from the wonderful .studio the past two sessions. The kids absolutely loved it and did an amazing job collaborating to create a story together. Everyone was thrilled at how it turned out!

Clatsop County Student Art Show is opening this weekend at !

It’s the 11th Annual but will be the first year that Art Room students get to have some art in the show too. They have been hard at work with their mixed media pieces and are excited to share them with everyone.

Visit from 12-8 on Saturday 5/10 for the opening reception and support our budding local artists! See you there!

Some still shots from our last class. We’re so proud of these kids and their hard work! We love how each project turns out differently even if we use the same materials.

Reminder that there is no art room this week, enjoy your Spring Break! Class will resume on April 1st. Tuesday’s class is full, but we still have space in the Thursday class for 5th-8th graders.
For this upcoming unit, we will be working with fiber and paper mache. Some of the projects include puppets, sculptures, mobiles and more.
Let us know if you have any questions!

Collage and gel printing are a perfect match!
Today, our 1st-4th kids carefully chose a layout with magazine cut outs and other scrap papers and then printed over top with acrylics on gel plates. Layering colors and using q-tips to create designs within the paint on the gel plate was a lot of fun.

On Thursday we will follow the same steps with our 5th-8th kids, we can’t wait to see what they create!
