Congratulations to Mylie Lempea and Coach Amanda Isom who were both honored at last night's Oregon Coaches Association awards banquet. Mylie was selected as one of 8 scholarship winners from around the state. Her excellent athletic career and remarkable academic achievements were highlighted during the event. Coach Isom, who serves on the Coaches Association board, was able to present Mylie with her scholarship. Later on in the evening, Coach Isom was named as the 2A/1A Boys Cross Country Coach of the Year. This is the second time she has won that award.
Congratulations to both on these outstanding accomplishments!

Honey bee behavior is quite fascinating! Every year, the KHS front entrance attracts bee swarms. In an attempt to keep them from entering the roof as they have in the past, a local beekeeper set up a swarm box. It worked, the bees have been exploring the home for a few days and decided to move in today! Thank you to Happy Homestead Apiary of Knappa for protecting the property at KHS and providing our students an opportunity to observe their behavior. If you'd like to check out her products, you can find her at many markets, including the Astoria Sunday Market.
