Synchronize and de-stress. 💓

Research shows that when we co-regulate with children, like syncing heartbeats through rocking, swaying, or singing in time to music, we can directly influence cortisol (stress) levels of the other person. (via Mind Institute)

During our Kindermusik by Lynda classes we begin and end each session with a co-regulation song. We start with "It's our time to sing together..." swaying from side to side with our child in our lap. We end with a quiet time song, rocking and cuddling our child, bringing the heart rate down and syncing our breathing. 🎶😌

Today is International Literacy Day, a UNESCO day of observance that highlights the importance of literacy.

What is the connection between literacy and music? Listening to music elicits dozens of emotional and physical responses. Educators have been using these responses to enhance literacy in their students. Studies show that kids from the age of two can learn to read and write better when they are exposed to music.

Music is an important component of improved literacy because it's a good way to learn to hear, think and connect sounds together.
