A heartfelt thank you to Red Cliff Early Childhood Center for welcoming our Bad River Head Start staff on Friday! Our trip across the bay was both enlightening and inspiring. It gave our teachers a wonderful opportunity to collaborate, connect, exchange ideas, and learn from one another. We loved spending the day with you and truly value the relationship between our programs. We very much appreciate your hospitality and our staff was wowed by your center and staff! We continue our staff training preservice on Monday. Our staff is reaching out to families to schedule home visits and beginning of the year assessments. EHS starts their school year September 1st! Head Start will begin September 8th. We still have several spots for 3 and 4 year olds, applications can be picked up at the center or found online in our bio.

Bad River Head Start Preservice is underway! Our staff kicked off two weeks of training, learning, and preparation on Monday as we get ready to welcome our students and families back for another great year.

These weeks give our team time to learn together, strengthen our skills, prepare our classrooms, and make sure we’re ready to provide the best possible start to the 2026–27 school year. We’re excited for what’s ahead!

Thank you to our UW Extension Farm to ECE, FoodWIse, and Northwest Connections Family Resources presenters today and yesterday! We have CESA presenters tomorrow and we’re visiting Red Cliff ECC on Friday to round out our first week of trainings.

We are down to just 15 available slots for 3- and 4-year-olds for the 2026–27 school year!

Our Early Head Start classrooms are currently full. Applications for children under age 3 are still encouraged and will be added to our waitlist. Families will be contacted as openings become available.

Returning Families:
If your child attended our program last year, their slot is secured for the upcoming school year. If you have not yet completed your new school year paperwork, please stop in anytime next week to get everything finalized.

Before the First Day of School:
All students must have a current annual well-child exam on file. If your child is due for an appointment, please schedule it as soon as possible so we have the required documentation before school begins.

If your child has any food allergies or dietary restrictions, they must be documented on the physical form and signed by your child’s primary care provider.

• Head Start: September 8

A new school year is just around the corner, and we can’t wait to welcome our families back.

Early Head Start begins September 1, and Head Start begins September 8. Stop by before the first day if you haven’t yet finished your back to school paperwork.

We currently have 19 openings in our Head Start program for children ages 3 and 4. If you’ve been thinking about enrolling your child, now is a great time to apply before those spots are filled.

Our program provides:
• School readiness through hands-on learning
• Healthy meals and snacks
• Family support services
• Caring, qualified teachers
• A safe, nurturing environment where children can learn and grow

We are also accepting applications for our Early Head Start waitlist for children ages 0–3.

Attention Bad River Head Start Families!

If your child still needs their annual physical, this is a great opportunity to get it done!

The Bad River Health and Wellness Center is hosting its Adventure to Wellness Youth Bash on August 5th and 6th from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Walk-ins are welcome.

Head Start requires every student to have a current annual physical on file before the school year begins. While you're there, your child can also receive dental screenings, ear and eye screenings, and vaccines and labs.

This is a fun, family-friendly event with a bike rodeo, bounce house, information booths, prizes, and more!

We encourage families who still need to complete their child's physical to take advantage of this wonderful community event.
