I got the other roof boards installed yesterday and started more painting. It's amazing that one year ago today was the day I started building the booth. Somehow managed to build it in pretty much a week solo. Not too shabby for a welder, blacksmith, sign guy.

Got some more booth work done today. Got the roof extension board on just before the rain. Yay for dry counters.

The new roof extensions are coming along This add on is going to keep the counters on rainy days and generally keep water off the wood.

It was hot on site today but started the roof extension project. Hopefully it will keep the counters dry if it rains.

Finally got some time in the shop today. Finished up some organizing and got started on a batch of daggers (DS-6 and DS-8) feels weird being back in the shop after all the medical stuff had me riding the couch for so long.

Picture for attention because IG wants picture posts. Do any of our local friends, customers, or followers do any blacksmithing ( even entry level stuff) I am asking because after my last update post with the foot issues things took a turn for the worse and had more surgery this week. I'll be back ony.feet.and making stock for this season. I am thinking if I can find someone that can do even basic smithing to do the blacksmith demos on faire days that would allow me to not be on my feet all day everyday and help with my over all long term healing

So just an update on the in the of your favorite axeman. Had surgery last Thursday to "fix" hopefully the last of the issues from my foot injuries I sustained building the booth last season. This would be number 4. Surgery went great, unfortunately developed a really bad infection. Not from or at the surgery sites more than likely since I've still been treating two open wounds on the foot there were plenty of "bugs" living in the foot.
Was sent to the ER Monday morning by the doctor. I had developed a mild fever over the weekend but well under the "call the doctor ASAP level" spent a good chunk of the day in the ER they put me on IV antibiotics that matched the culture results they took during the procedure. Went back Tuesday for another dose. It looked like slight improvement, went home and then back on Wednesday. As soon as they unwrapped my foot I looked and said " I'm not going home today" . I was right they admitted me and change up the IV antibiotics ( in true Jamie overachiever fashion it took a few extra days for the 4th "little big" to grow in the culture dish.) first three days a super staring ass antibiotic that targets all the bugs I had,.then they switched to a more targeted one.So 4 times a day I get some serious antibiotics foot is starting to improve. Should be able to transition to oral and head home Tuesday or Wednesday.
Good news is the bone samples they cut out( the reason for the surgery) came back clean. For those that don't know the only way to treat a bone infection is to remove it. Hence the 5 toe amputations and now a tiny piece of my number 4 metatarsal bone. Once I'm home and on the mend I may upload some pictures of current inventory for sale to help get some money in. Self-employed means if I don't work I don't get paid, no disability or any other safety nets. And I've missed 6 mounts+ of work since august. Didn't mean for this to be such a long post but yay pain meds.
