On September 5th, our graduate assistant has one birthday wish: skip the flood of texts and piles of presents, and come celebrate at our First Saturday at the Apiary event instead!

Held the first Saturday of each month at the apiary at The Farm at Southern Oregon University, this free public gathering is open to all bee lovers. Join Joy McEwen for a morning of hands-on learning, where we explore seasonal hive care, soil health research, and regenerative beekeeping philosophy in action.

Zhu, Farm Operations and Mentorship Manager, goes over the process of turning an empty bed into harvest gold. It might seem early, but this is the time when we think about our fall crops. What are you planting this fall? 🥔🍠🍁🍂

Our farmers put in the work bringing fresh produce to the community, so of course we get our share of it too! To celebrate the summer season, we held a farm to fork potluck: each dish incorporates a vegetable from our field.

Looking for an easygoing, fun, and community-first experience at SOU? Consider joining our next cohort of interns! We’re on the lookout for three members to join our team. If you’re an undergrad looking for unique internship experience, check out our website for the application.

It’s not “kinda” chic to get interested in The Farm… it’s super mega chic. Anyone who knows us knows how welcoming, supportive, and fulfilling it is to take a class, intern, or simply stop by the gates on a Tuesday to see what we’re growing.

The Farm was founded on the idea that we’re a gathering place first and foremost. We come together through experiments and adventures, through feeding one another, and by staying curious — even at the crack of dawn.

Join us! We’re looking for undergraduates who want to be part of our crew this fall through classes or an internship. 🎓 Let us help get you graduated!

It was a pleasure to share the joy of The Farm with members of the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute (OLLI) today alongside other extraordinary organizations in the Rogue Valley.

We shared information on our monthly beekeeping workshops led by Diggin' Livin' Farm & Apiaries, our fall courses, partnerships with the Ashland School District and SOU Dining Services, and our highly anticipated honey sale!

We’re grateful for every opportunity to share the value The Farm contributes to Southern Oregon’s landscape of regionally relevant, hands-on higher education.

We’ve got an exciting announcement coming this week… can you guess what we’re plotting and scheming?! 🐝🍯
