ExcEL is 100% asynchronous and designed for working educators. Learn while you teach, apply what you’re learning directly in your classroom, and receive support from experienced educators along the way.

💻 Live Zoom info sessions are available throughout August and September, with a variety of days and times — including sessions especially convenient for our east and west coast educators.

NABE firmly and unequivocally opposes the proposed English-only mandate for Head Start.

English acquisition does not require English-only education. Children can develop strong English proficiency while continuing to learn, grow, and communicate in their home languages.

A child’s home language is not a barrier. It is an asset—deeply connected to family, culture, identity, learning, and development.

NABE is calling on all members, affiliates, educators, families, researchers, advocates, and community partners to submit public comments opposing this harmful proposal.

The public comment period closes October 6, 2026. Every comment matters, and every voice must be heard.

Schools/programs interested in serving as hosts for our annual school visits are invited to consider two different formats...

✅ SPOTLIGHT LESSON DEMONSTRATION includes:
⭐45-60 minute comprehensive formal classroom visit of a prepared lesson
⭐Includes a written lesson plan for observers
⭐20 minute pre- and post-observation conversations with classroom teacher(s)
⭐Planning and preparation support and coaching from MABE staff at every step
⭐Teacher(s) will be invited to present about their experience at March 2027 MABE Conference
⭐Potential to video record (pending permissions) for future learning

✔️ GENERAL TOUR includes a site tour, a Q&A session, and short, informal visits to multiple classrooms.
