Psychology Department

Psychology Department http://www.sou.edu/psychology/index.html The Psychology Department is part of the College of Arts and Sciences.

The Psychology Department is housed in the Education-Psychology Building which includes state-of-the-art equipment for classroom instruction, research, the students' study of learning, biofeedback, and other subspecialty areas. For our Masters students, facilities also include a computerized lab, videotape equipment, and observation rooms. More than 325 undergraduates have declared Psychology as their major.

Some important news for all current and future psychology students!

If you have started or intend to start the PSY 228-229 sequence this year, listen up...

Students wishing to be Psychology majors or are working on a Psychology degree need to finish the PSY 228-PSY 229 sequence by the end of spring 2015. There will be a new Statistics sequence going into effect fall 2015 and neither PSY 228 or PSY 229 will continue to be offered. Please contact Dr. John Taylor in the Psychology Dept., if you have any concerns about starting PSY 228 this year and needing to finish it the next academic year.

Today, we'd like to announce the we are accepting Psi Chi applications until November 14th with Inductions to be held on November 21st!

Welcome to an exciting new school year!

First off, we would like to give a warm welcome to all new students, both those interested in psychology and those who have already chosen to follow an education in this path.

This year promises to be filled with many opportunities to make new friends, and get to know your faculty! With that being said, please join us next Tuesday for the Psychology Department's meet and greet!

The meet and greet will be a great opportunity for students and faculty alike to get to know each other!

Meet us in the Ed/Psych building, upper floor foyer for some delicious food from 11am to 1pm.

This Wednesday, June 4th at 12:30 the Psychology Club will be hosting a BBQ! The location is TBD.

We will be grilling some shish kabobs!

During this fun meeting, we will be eating, introducing the new officers, (voting is still open!) and listening to some capstone presentations.

Hello Psychology Students!

Are you a member of Psi Chi and graduating this year? Do you want a Psi Chi honor cord for the commencement ceremony? If so, our chapter is purchasing honor cords for those who would like one. If you don't want an honor cord but do want to be mentioned that you are a member of Psi Chi in the graduation program, please also let us know. Email Hope Ewing at [email protected] by May 12th.

We are also formally opening Psi Chi applications for the Spring term. Please use the following link to find the online application. Fill out this application May 12th. We will confirm your acceptance May 15th.
