Catholic Campus Ministry, The Newman Community at AU

The week of May 16-22, twelve students and two staff from AU partnered w/ Praying Pelican Missions to help with the Hurricane Helene recovery efforts in Lake Lure & Chimney Rock, North Carolina. Below are some photos from an amazing week of service and fellowship.

St. Paul wrote, “The only thing that counts is faith expressing itself through love” (Galatians 5:6). We pray our small acts of charity will bless the people we served. Their perseverance in the midst of great suffering certainly increased our faith!

Thank you to all who offered prayers and support for our mission. Please keep the people of Western Carolina in your prayers as they continue to rebuild their lives!

Congratulations to our seniors who will be graduating in a couple of days! Yesterday at Mass, the seniors got a special blessing wishing them luck as they embark on their next steps. We will miss all the seniors and we look forward to what they will do next. We are praying for you!

Join Newman and the Well Campus ministries for a study break Saturday night from 8-10pm in Lower Chapel. After a long day of studying join us for games, crafts, legos, snacks, and more! We hope to see you there!

Tomorrow morning we will have a study break with coffee and donuts! Stop by Lower Chapel anywhere from 9-11am for some coffee, donuts, fruit, and to look forward to summer break. We hope to see you there feel free to come and go as you please!

Join us tonight at Nate’s House for our End of Year Party! There will be heavy appetizers, desserts, yard games, and year end reflections. Come end the year with faith, fun, and fellowship. Carpool leaves Lower Chapel at 6:50pm. We hope to see you at 7pm at Nate’s house!

Join us TONIGHT for our 52 Masses Newman Night. Daniel Markham traveled to all 50 states, Washington DC, and Puerto Rico and attended mass in each place. Tonight he will be sharing the experiences he had at mass and with parishioners at each parish. We hope to see you at 7pm tonight in Lower Chapel.

Before Easter, we wrapped up our 4 week series on Theology of the Body. Our third night of the talked about our destiny and the vocation of celibacy. Then we finished the series by talking about marriage and sexual union. Throughout the series, spoke to us our bodies and how they are meant to glorify God by answering the questions: What does it mean to be human? And How do I live a life in a way that will bring about true happiness?

Tonight at Newman Night, we are celebrating Easter and Christ’s resurrection by combining a social and sacramental event to emphasize the importance of worshipping God with community. We will begin with an Easter Egg Hunt to start with community and then we will have our Festival of Praise to praise and worship our Lord in the Blessed Sacrament with our community. Hope to see you in Lower Chapel at 7pm with the FOP starting at 7:30 in Redwood!

This Wednesday we will be celebrating Easter with an Easter Egg Hunt and our Festival of Praise! Join us at 7pm in Lower Chapel for directions for the Easter Egg Hunt. Prizes will be given out in Redwood Hall at 7:25 with the Festival of Praise starting immediately afterwards. Come celebrate Easter with a fun egg hunt and praise and worship of Christ’s Resurrection!

Our Palm Sunday Mass started with the blessing of the palms on the Chapel Stairs followed by a procession around the chapel. It was a great reminder of Jesus’s procession into Jerusalem followed by His Passion, Death, and Resurrection that we examen throughout the rest of Holy Week.
