I hope you'll join me (Mike Oxendine) for a very special screening of The Seeds of Peace right here in Ashland. It feels especially meaningful that this film is being shown at Southern Oregon University—the place where the first Hiroshima Peace Tree seeds germinated in Oregon and where this remarkable journey first took root. Bringing the story back to where it all began is a powerful reminder of how small acts of hope can grow into something that touches communities across our state.
This film is deeply personal to me—not only because I had the privilege of being part of it, but because it tells the extraordinary story of Dr. Hideko Tamura Snider and the remarkable movement that has grown from her vision of hope, healing, and peace. Many of you know how passionately I support the Oregon Peace Tree Project, One Sunny Day Initiatives, Green Legacy Hiroshima, and the work to build a more peaceful, nuclear-free world. This beautiful documentary weaves those stories together in a way that is both inspiring and deeply moving. I would love to share this experience with the OUR Community Forestry family. I truly believe you'll leave with a renewed appreciation for the power of resilience, remembrance, and the ways each of us can help plant seeds of peace for future generations.
