2 Paid Sustainability Internships to Support Building of East Main Park in Ashland, Oregon. (ALL MAJORS WELCOME!)
The SOU Institute for Applied Sustainability seeks 2 undergraduate interns to work with Ashland Parks and Recreation (APRC) and Terrain Landscape Architecture on the development and construction administration of a new multi-use public park in Ashland, Oregon. Interns will work closely with Terrain and APRC, as well as SOU staff and faculty to support the development of a new, environmentally sustainable multi-use public park.

Responsibilities:
Research various third-party environmental certifications (i.e. Living Building Challenge or Sites Initiative) and select one (or one aspect) that is appropriate for the project.
Work with Terrain and APRC to analyze the various components of the project and ensure they are in-line with sustainability goals for the community.
Research, development and implementation may include a focus on any of the following aspects of the project:
Playground Design and Educational Components
Hydrology and Water-Use
Working with the Mountain bike community on a pump track and skills park
Community Outreach, including but not limited to stakeholder groups such as Rogue Valley Mountain Bike Association, Bee City, Ashland Community Gardeners, Indigenous Gardens Network
Native, Drought-tolerant and/or Firewise plantings
Meadow establishment and maintenance
Transportation
Materials selection & sourcing
Solar & other alternative Energy options
ADA compliance and accessibility for all
Skills and Qualifications:
Must be a current student at SOU
Must be able to commit to ~10-15 hours/week for a 3 month period
Pay ~$16.00 per hour
