This week’s RA spotlight is Leigha Tansel! Leigha is from Canton, Ohio. She is a third year RA at the College of Nursing campus. Leigha is majoring in Nursing. She is a member of the Dean’s Advisory Council and Residence Life. Leigha’s future goals are to become a traveling nurse and to see different places and different ways that hospitals run.
In her free time, she likes to read, dance, watch Netflix, and bowl. Leigha’s favorite floor program was a tie-dye program! When we asked Leigha why she wanted to become an RA she said, “I wanted to help people find their way as they start their journey into adulthood and new experiences.” Something unique about Leigha is that she loves animals and has many pets.

Our RA Spotlight of the week is Patrick Brennan! Patrick is from Catonsville, Maryland. He is a first year RA in Kem Hall. Patrick is majoring in Integrated Social Studies Education. He is a member of the Climbing Club. In his free time, he likes to watch and follow sports, play adaptive ice hockey and basketball, and work out.
Patrick’s favorite floor program was a video game tournament that led into a super bowl watch party! When we asked Patrick why he wanted to become an RA he said, “My RA helped me a lot in transitioning to college. This motivated me to follow his lead and return the favor for other students.” His future goals are to become a history teacher and to coach football and baseball. Something special about Patrick is that he is a cancer survivor!

Our RA Spotlight for this week is Kyle Nebergall! Kyle is from Crestline, Ohio. He is a first year RA in Kem Hall. Kyle is majoring in Biochemistry. He is a member of AMSA, Tennis Club, and Pre-Health Club. Kyle’s future goal is to be a doctor. In his free time, he likes to walk nature trails, read, and fish.
Kyle’s favorite floor program was when his RA had a video game tournament followed by a Super Bowl watch party! When we asked Kyle why he wanted to become an RA he said, “I wanted to become an RA to help those around me and be a resource for those who need it. Being an RA allows me to get to know more people and make more friends.”

Our RA Spotlight of the week is Owen McManus! Owen is from Limestoneville, Pennsylvania. He is a second year RA in Kilhefner Hall. Owen is majoring in International Political Studies with a minor in French. He is a member of the Ashbrook program, Honors program, College Democrats, and French Club.
In his free time, he likes to spend time with his friends and family. Owen’s favorite floor program was jeopardy night! When we asked Owen why he wanted to become an RA he said, “I want to help other students on campus succeed!” His future goal is to be the Secretary General of the United Nations. One of Owen’s favorite things is unsweetened iced black tea.

The RA Spotlight for this week is Alexis Cortes! Lexi is from Doylestown, Ohio. She is a second year RA in Clayton Hall. Lexi is majoring in Mathematics and Actuarial Science. She is a member of the Alphi Phi Sorority, AU GIVS, Information Technology department, and a teacher at GCA. In her free time, she likes to relax and hang out with friends.
Lexi’s favorite floor program was a self-care challenge. At this floor program, Lexi and her residents had a competition to see who could earn the most points over a two-week period by doing tasks revolving around self-care.
When we asked Lexi why she wanted to become an RA she said, “I enjoy helping people!” Lexi’s future goals are to get her masters in mathematics and become an actuary. Something unique about Lexi is that she is an eight enneagram!

Our RA Spotlight for this week is Clay Matthews! Clay is from Marengo, Ohio. He is a first year RA in Jacobs Hall. Clay is majoring in Accounting with a minor in Finance. He is a member of the Accounting Club, Residence Life, and Intramural Sports. In his free time, he likes to watch Netflix and play video games.
When we asked Clay why he wanted to become an RA he said, “I became an RA to help people get adjusted to the college lifestyle and to encourage them to get involved with an organization that is best for them.” Clay’s future goal is to become a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) at a Big Four accounting firm. Something unique about Clay is that he was named after the football players Clay Matthews Sr. and Clay Matthews Jr.

Our RA Spotlight of the week is Joe Beaver! Joe is from Streetsboro, Ohio. He is a third year RA in Andrews Hall. Joe is majoring in Political Science and Political Economy. He is President of the AU College Republicans, member of Ratio Christi, member of the Alexander Hamilton Society, member of the Pre-Law Society, and a tutor for Economics and Ethics.
In his free time, he likes to listen to podcasts, exercise, and read quite a bit. He also enjoys spending time with his friends at restaurants and watching movies.
When we asked Joe why he wanted to become an RA he said, “All people seek purpose. College is a place that can direct and define what that means for each person. I hope to help guide people toward where the purpose lies.” Joe’s future goals are to be a good father and a husband someday. His career goal is to be an attorney tasked with defending our Republic’s Constitution. Something unique about Joe is that he was nicknamed after Joey from the TV show Friends!

Our first RA Spotlight for the 2020-2021 school year is Sarah Shearer! Sarah is from Norton, Ohio. She is a second year RA in Kem Hall. Sarah is majoring in Marketing and Graphic Design. She is a member of the Well, ELI, Club Volleyball, and AUHR Student Chapter. In her free time she likes to draw and paint. Sarah’s favorite floor program was record painting. At this floor program Sarah and her residents painted records that were purchased from Goodwill.
When we asked Sarah why she wanted to become an RA she said, “I love meeting new people and helping those in need!” Sarah’s future goal is to make a difference in the lives around her! Something unique about Sarah is that she loves the color yellow.
