ADMINISTRATORS: please do not ask faculty and staff to load anything on to their personal devices. Their personal devices are theirs, NOT the schools. If you want your employees to have a particular app for communicating that is acceptable in SB 181 land, then purchase each of them a device.
EDUCATORS: Do NOT volunteer to load the district's designated program on your personal phone, due to privacy and security concerns. Only use designated apps/programs on school supplied devices.
EDUCATORS: Admitting that you may or may not have violated SB 181 guidelines sets you up for being reported to the Education Professional Standards Board. Believe me, you do NOT want to be reported to EPSB. KNOW your district's policy on SB 181 and make sure you've got your KEA membership current and up to date! This is going to be a crap show and you don't want any part of this foolishness to taint your working conditions, your career, or most importantly your students! KEA is the ONLY educators' union who has dues supplied attorneys!
Call your state representative and state senator and complain about the ridiculousness of this "let's punish everyone" and "yeah, this is really going to stop pedophiles" useless piece of legislation!
