Ashland University Music Department

The Ashland University community stands with our neighbors here in Ashland.

During their long-anticipated Spring Break trip to perform at Walt Disney World, Ashland High School's Marching Band suffered a devastating setback: on the night of March 28th, their band trailer was broken into and several student instruments were stolen — just one day before their scheduled performance on Main Street in Magic Kingdom.

In true form, their directors and students refused to let this moment be taken from them. Replacement instruments were secured, and the band performed as planned. That kind of resilience is something every music educator is proud to witness.

The financial recovery, however, is ongoing. The Ashland High School Band Boosters are raising funds to replace stolen instruments and cover emergency rental costs. We encourage our AU community — students, faculty, alumni, and supporters — to consider contributing or sharing their story.

Ashland University Music Alumni Reception at OMEA 2026

Calling all Ashland University Music alumni! We would love to see you in Columbus during this year’s Ohio Music Education Association Annual Professional Development Conference.

Join us for a special AU Music Alumni Reception at Whistle & Keg at 6 PM on Friday, January 30.

Whistle & Keg is only a short walk from the convention center, making it the perfect place to gather, relax, and reconnect after a full day at OMEA. The department will be providing appetizers for everyone who attends.

Whether you graduated recently or many years ago, this is a great chance to catch up with fellow Eagles, meet current AU faculty and friends of the program, and celebrate the strong musical community that continues to grow at Ashland University.
