At the graduate level, the Department offers an online program in corporate and strategic communication.

The Department of Communication Studies at Ashland offers on-campus and online undergraduate and graduate programs in applied communication, corporate communication, public relations, sport communication and strategic communication. The Department of Communication Studies at Ashland University fosters innovative and diverse leadership, intellectual rigor, and collaboration in a culture of scholarship. At the undergraduate level, the Department offers both on-campus and online programs in applied communication, sport communication, and public relations & strategic communication. Our faculty members are dedicated to exceptional teaching and providing individual attention to each student. We train our students to excel in whatever careers they choose to pursue after graduation. Olga Monacell is an associate professor of communication at Ashland University. She leads the online master’s program in strategic communication and leadership and advises Ashland’s PRSSA chapter.

For two decades in the industry, Olga managed public relations and marketing in nonprofit, for-profit and international organizations and provided strategic communication counsel to elected officials and government press officers. Her scholarly pursuits focus on public diplomacy, corporate and country reputation, and status of women in communications.

Olga holds a doctorate in mass communications from Syracuse University’s Newhouse School of Public Communications.

She looks forward to being actively involved in our PRSA chapter and using her Accreditation in Public Relations (APR) to inspire and mentor young women interested in our profession.
