Children don’t always need a lecture in the middle of a meltdown.

Sometimes they need a calm nervous system to lean on.

When a child is shouting, crying, refusing, panicking or falling apart, their brain is already overwhelmed. If the adult in front of them becomes overwhelmed too, the stress grows. But when we pause, soften our voice, breathe, and stay steady, calm can spread too.

This doesn’t mean adults have to be perfect. It doesn’t mean ignoring behaviour. It means remembering that emotional regulation is learned through connection, repetition and safety.

Kids borrow our calm before they can build their own.

The way we respond in the hardest moments becomes part of how they learn to respond to themselves later. And that is powerful.

What. A. Day.
Thank you to all of those who expressed their dedication and commitment to young learners and their families by participating in the first ever Ashland RTC Early Childhood Boot Camp.
We give a special thanks to those who served in helper roles: greeters, circle time friends, those who facilitated stations, and those who completely created their own station AND hosted it. Thank you 1000x to those who stayed and helped us pack up and load the truck. ❤️

Additionally, we appreciate those of you who texted, emailed, or simply stopped one of us to give us feedback on the day. We cherish that feedback and use it to grow.

We wish all of you the best school year ever. Remember, we are here if you need support, assistance, encouragement, or want to share your celebrations.

You all are amazing!
Feel free to share your favorite thing about the day in the comments and drop a picture from the day.
