I have this photo from 1935 of the Hunt's Cash Store. I need some help on researching this. Does anyone know if this is what is now known as Hunter's General Store in Drummond, Wisconsin? If not, do you know where this is?
UPDATE: Thanks to Bob Klamerus seeing "Lac Du Flambeau" on the photo, I did a little research and found a few photos that do show it is taken in Lac du Flambeau, Wisconsin. Thanks, Bob!
I found the following on the internet. If anyone can confirm this info, that would be great.
The founder and owner of Hunt's Cash Store was George W. Hunt. He was a regional merchant who began establishing a network of grocery stores across northern Wisconsin and the Upper Peninsula of Michigan.
After opening his earliest location in Ashland, Wisconsin in 1925, he expanded his business to secure better wholesale lot pricing. To meet suppliers' minimum volume requirements, he went on to open and manage additional "Hunt's" general and cash stores in Lac du Flambeau, Wisconsin, Minocqua, Wisconsin, Washburn, Wisconsin, and Ironwood, Michigan.
The Lac du Flambeau location operated as a key community fixture on Main Street during the early-to-mid 20th century, specializing in buying eggs, fresh produce, and veal directly from local residents.
Management of the broader family business was later carried on by his son, George Hunt, Jr., who eventually integrated the family's grocery operations with the regional Piggly Wiggly franchise network.
