The Student Recital concert scheduled for tomorrow Thursday, February 6th at 12:30pm is CANCELLED due to continued hazardous weather and driving conditions. We will share out a rescheduled date as soon as we are able!

The first Recital this term is next week - Thursday, January 30th at 12:30pm at the SOU Music Recital Hall.

FREE and open to the public, with no tickets needed.

Once upon a time there was a small, but very soft, silver-haired donkey named Platero. His fur is said to be so soft to the touch that he seemed to be made of cotton. Only his eyes are hard, jet black like crystal scarabs...

Join us for the rest of the story as it unfolds with special guest percussionist Joel Alberto Garza TOMORROW NIGHT - Wednesday, January 15th at 7:30pm at the SOU Music Recital Hall. Spanish storytelling and percussion performance with projected English subtitles on the big screen. Translations available in the printed program.

STUDENTS!!! Join us next Wednesday, January 15 at 7:30pm at the SOU Music Recital Hall for a unique and fun concert of Spanish storytelling and percussion with special guest Joel Alberto Garza, Asst. Director of Percussion at Western Oregon University.

The concert is based on "Platero y yo" the book by Nobel Laureate Juan Ramón Jiménez.

This is a story spoken in Spanish (with English subtitles on the big screen) about a silver haired donkey name Platero and his owner and explores the themes of nature, death, empathy and love.

The musical arrangements are derived from Italian composer Mario Castelnuovo-Tedesco's 1960 melologue, originally written for guitar and narrator titled: Platero y yo, Op. 190.
