On September 18, 1947, the United States Air Force officially became an independent branch of the U.S. Armed Forces.
For 79 years, generations of Airmen have defended our nation across air, space, and cyberspace.

Thank you to everyone in our Ashland University and surrounding community who showed up, climbed, supported, and helped make Flights of Honor, 9/11 Remembrance Challenge, meaningful.

Today was about remembering the nearly 3,000 lives lost on September 11, 2001, honoring the first responders and service members who made the ultimate sacrifice, and recognizing the families forever changed by that day. Every step was a reminder of the courage, sacrifice, and selflessness shown that day and in the years that followed.

25 years later, we remember. We honor. We never forget.

Victory over Japan (V-J) Day

On September 2, 1945, representatives of Japan formally surrendered aboard the USS Missouri in Tokyo Bay, bringing World War II to an end.
More than eight decades later, the legacy of the Americans who served during the war lives on.
V-J Day allows us to remember their courage, their sacrifices, and a generation whose service changed the course of history.

National Airborne Day commemorates the Army's first official parachute jump on August 16, 1940, and recognizes the generations of paratroopers who have answered the call to serve.

The Navajo Code Talkers used their native language to create an unbreakable code that proved instrumental during World War II, helping Allied forces communicate securely across the Pacific.
