Thanks to Kelsey Parsons for bringing this amazing and fun ballrolling game yesterday to Ashland’s Fall Festival and for orchestrating Communities for Kids “Trunk or Treat.” So many families were out enjoying the community, holiday and their young children. Ashland Area Communities for Kids promotes the wellbeing (and family fun) of young children and their caregivers. Thanks too to Darcy Carey and Amanda Moon, dedicated professionals ever contributing to the wellbeing of young children and to Betsy Tonniges for snaps.

Thanks to everyone who stopped by AGA-C4K Trunk or Treat in Ashland yesterday and to Kelsey Parsons for her leadership! So many costumed kids and fun parents and grandparents. Several child care licensed providers also provided “trunks.” Pulling together as Ashland/Greenwood are and become great places for our youngest children!

A post from Amber Holz:
Finally have decided to go “public” with something I’ve been working on. 🫣
Friends and family, and those who support our littlest ones, please read. It’s a long one-but I would really appreciate your support!

I am entering into my third year as a member of the Buffett Early Childhood Workforce Leadership Cadre which is made up of 26 early childhood professionals from across the state, who serve and advocate for Nebraska's children and families, from birth through third grade.
***As part of my 3-year cadre membership in this group, I am also working on a small community-based impact project with the help and support of St. Mary’s preschool and parish staff. Within Ashland, we have preschool playground equipment sitting unused at the intermediate elementary school. When the new primary school in our community opened, a new playground was built for our public preschool there, leaving the existing preschool playground equipment to be left at the intermediate school to sit unused and ready to be demolished so that one day they can utilize this space as an outdoor classroom. Our community takes care of one another. We share resources and work together to create spaces where children and families can thrive. Thanks to the support of our superintendent and our board of education, I am hoping that I am able to raise the $18,000 still needed of the total $23,000 to move this unused, donated playground equipment from the AGPS Intermediate school to St. Mary’s Preschool in Ashland. This would include taking down, transferring, installing the equipment as well as providing leveling of the surface, padded surfacing and a fence.
St Mary’s preschool serves many of our local children each year including many outside of their parish. All of our children deserve a safe space to play and grow and right now St. Mary’s preschool has no playground. Transferring an unused, soon to be demolished existing playground to a new space in our community is a simple, fiscally responsible way to support our youngest learners as they grow and develop in Ashland. A new playground of this size was just built at a childcare in Grand island and cost the childcare over $200,000. $23,000 (the total cost) quickly doesn’t seem so bad. This project is a small way we can work to make our facilities better. My hope is that when it’s all said and done we can give the Intermediate building $1,000 for their outdoor classroom as well.
If you are interested in helping financially support my project I would be so HAPPY to pick up your financial donation from your or you can read the flyer about other ways to donate. The sooner we raise the money, the sooner it can happen.
I would also appreciate your support by spreading the word about my project as we know word of mouth works best.
Please share my flyers and post. Thank you for your time and support of our youngest kiddos.

Thanks to everyone who came to Ashland-Greenwood Area Communities for Kids Year 3 Celebration and Summit Sunday. It was a great event as we honored Teresa Bray and Janet Rolofson for their fabulous contributions to POPs and C4K and honored our area childcare providers. We learned about efforts of AGA C4K to support early childhood education and of plans for the future with Friends of C4K. Become a friend of AGA C4K! Watch for the URL and join. Thanks to Ashland Golf Club for hosting and Farmers and Merchants and I3 Banks for sponsoring this fun event!
