A weekend of learning, reflection, and connection in Asheville. 🏔️
Centered around the theme Mountains of Democracy, this retreat encouraged me to reflect on the role of education in building more inclusive communities while honoring history and diverse perspectives.
Throughout the weekend, I participated in meaningful activities, including creating an inspirational collage, meeting two incredible authors, visiting the North Carolina State Archives, A-B Tech Community College, and Cherokee, where we learned about the history, culture, and legacy of the Cherokee people.
One of the most rewarding parts of this experience was connecting with educators from different schools and districts. We exchanged ideas, built new professional relationships, and shared a common goal: to continue growing as educators, explore new teaching strategies, and create learning environments that celebrate diversity, acknowledge the history and contributions of African American communities, and provide meaningful opportunities for every student.
I’m returning with fresh ideas, renewed inspiration, and deep gratitude for this unforgettable experience. 🍎✨
