It’s that time of year. Gearing up for all-county, all-district and all-state. Doing lots of scales! The one thing I always noticed with flutists is that they forget to use and sustain their air through the scale… Practice without your flute, just blowing the scale. My “candlestick” feather gets right to the point, making sure our wind is always underneath our scales. Against the wind? No; with the wind! Use the wind!
