Introducing the fantastical Joey!🎸

Joey Remillard is an exceptional bassist with years of experience in Rock, Funk, Blues, Jazz, and more. As a founding member of original Jam band, Strictly Liquid, Joey has played major stages across the Southeast region most notably the Spirit of the Suwannee Music Park.

Joey Remillard's experience is also coupled with the legends he has gotten to learn firsthand, he has gotten to sit down with both Oteil Burbridge from The Allman Brothers and Dead & Co. and Marc Brownstein of the Disco Biscuits extensively to hone the craft of the bass.

Introducing another one of our extremely talented instructors, Jacob!

Jacob grew up in Charlotte NC just down the “hill” from Asheville! Started playing guitar around 13 years old. Grew up on The Rolling Stones, The Who, Neil Young, and many other classic rock bands. From a young age, Jacob found music to be his main passion, and he always has had a wide range of musical appreciation.

Growing up in North Carolina, Jacob attended the famous Carolina music festival “ Merle Fest “ in Wilkesboro, NC. Famous for Folk, Mountain, Bluegrass music. To say the least, after his first time attending the festival, he got the “ Bluegrass Bug”. Since that moment, he has been playing and writing his own songs with that “ Traditional, Folk, Bluegrass” feel!

Jacob's specialty is teaching beginners the basics about their instrument and basic chord progressions & scales. Jacob's main goal is to share his passion for music with others! Along with passing that feeling onto others & inspiring them to write & play their own original songs! He believes music is the best kind of medicine! Writing & singing your own songs can heal the soul and others!

Jacob is a multi-instrumentalist. Playing Acoustic Guitar, Electric Guitar, Ukulele & Mandolin! He had one-on-one lessons in his teens & attended a Guitar camp at The University of Middle TN as well in his early years of playing.

Jacob is excited to connect with the local aspiring Asheville musicians & Singer/ Songwriters. It is his belief this town and community is a “Music Town" and he can’t wait to help shape & be a part of the ever-growing musical community!

Check out Troy, one of our amazing keys instructors!

My music journey began long before I picked up my first instrument. As a kid growing up in Pontiac, Michigan, I was fascinated by sound and would constantly try mimicking the noises I heard around me—likely to the occasional annoyance of my parents. But regardless, they always supported my curiosity and encouraged me to explore it. Inspired by Michael Winslow and his ability to recreate seemingly any sound, I became curious about all the different ways sound can be created and expressed.

At 12, I picked up the violin and joined my school’s after-school Fiddle Club to stay immersed in the music. By high school, I began teaching myself guitar, bass, and piano—especially during the COVID-19 pandemic. What had started as a curiosity developed into a passion I’ve carried with me since.

After high school, I met my piano mentor, Steve, in the chapel of the hospital that I had worked at—a space that happened to house a grand piano. Steve saw a passion for music in me and eventually took me on as his final student. Through studying with him, I learned far more than piano. He taught me to believe in a student’s potential, even before they fully see it in themselves. His only request of me was that I pass the torch to others someday, just as he had done for me.

I have a wide-ranging taste in music and enjoy finding something to appreciate in almost every genre, from jazz and funk to rock, R&B, and beyond. As an instructor, I want my students to feel that music is something they can explore—not something they have to be perfect at. My goal is to help each student build the skills, confidence, and curiosity to find a musical voice of their own!

Introducing the amazing Ethan!

Ethan Heller is a guitarist specializing in progressive rock, metal, funk, and punk. He is a founding member of The Snozzberries, with whom he has toured around the country and performed at major music festivals like Bonnaroo and Hulaween. Ethan also has experience in booking shows, band/tour management, and music marketing. As a self-taught player, Ethan places emphasis on ear training/listening, improvisation, and having fun while learning.

Ryan "RnB" Barber is a proud staple of Asheville NC’s legendary music scene, at the forefront of its funk and R&B community. Drawing from a lifetime of singing, rapping, producing, and touring across the nation, Ryan has released 6 full-length studio albums. He has also been featured on many high-profile projects, including producing/collaborating on two of R&B/Soul stalwart Wes Felton’s recent albums, and also as a prominent vocalist/emcee on the 2017 GRAMMY-winning album "Infinity Plus One" by Secret Agent 23 Skidoo, just one of the groups he actively tours with.

Born to a musical family and steeped in gospel and R&B from his first heartbeat, Ryan started his musical education in the church choir at the age of nine and continued deepening his knowledge of rhythm and percussion by joining the school marching band at fifteen. But it was love for hip hop, funk, new jack swing, and especially R&B that beat in his chest, so he quickly began applying all he’d learned to producing his own tracks, inspired by J Dilla, A Tribe Called Quest, DJ Quik, Gerald Levert, and Teddy Riley. Mixing a classic beat-production feel with soulful Southern singing and a fearless falsetto, Ryan solidified his musical identity as a recording artist, as well as a highly sought-after performer and collaborator.

Highlights include rocking sets at Chicago’s Lollapalooza Festival and performing live on SiriusXM in Washington, DC, delivering uplifting messages with a timeless soul that sounds like both yesterday and tomorrow.

Today we mourn the loss of one of music's most influential voices, Dolly Parton💖 Dolly's legacy transcended generations through the power of music, TV, and movies. Unapologetically herself, Dolly is a one-of-a-kind legend of a lifetime. We will remember her through her raw, undeniable talent, witty humor, and selfless kindness. As the saying goes, "Be a Dolly in a world full of Jolene's!" We love you, Dolly!🎀💖🎤💋🌸
