Are you one of those modern humans who goes to the woods to find peace, quiet, and some self reflection? Yeah me too. Society scares me. The woods feels like home. The true monsters live in civilization
Friction is the thing that makes things work. A life without friction is a life of stagnation and boring stories. Too much friction and we burn out. Too little friction and there is no heat, no transmutation, no growth.
Please don’t avoid the friction. Hopefully you live a resourced enough life to move toward some friction. And may you be strong enough to be transformed by it
A bad day of tending my land is better than a bad day anywhere else. I am still cleaning up the land from the hurricane. Trying to get this tree cleared off the Mountian and get some firewood for the winter. Gratitude to the waters of my Mountian.

The art of tracking has been a human survival strategy for millions of years. Our ancestors relied on tracks to feed themselves, stay alive and orient to their entire world. While our modern world has changed, our ability to track in order to orient and survive stays the same.
For me to feel like a happy and healthy human being, I track everyday, most importantly and more specifically, I track my inner landscape. How am I feeling? What needs aren’t getting met? How do I feed my soul? Because I may not live in a world where I can get eaten by lions but I do live in a world that eats souls if you don’t pay attention.
Keep your tracker eyes fixed upon your soul. This world depends on it.

At deep remembering our May class is all about getting know local, Medicinal and edible plants, bird language, and tulip poplar baskets! What a joy it is to get to know our plant friends by touching, smelling and making something from their magic.
Gratitude for the Tulip poplar trees!! If there was one mascot for our program it’s gotta be them! Tinder, cordage, wood for carving baskets and a tea for healing our nervous system (new info I learned from this month!)
What a joy it is to interact with these humans too! How lucky am I?
This isn’t the first time I have been injured by plants after forgetting to introduce myself and ask and listen and slow down. And it probably won’t be the last time. I come from a culture of taking so this is what it looks like to actively practice remembering.
