Seen this growing in our school garden and wondered what it is? it is a luffa (loofah), which is a tropical vine in the cucumber and squash family that can be eaten when it is young or later can be used as a natural scrubbing sponge.

Oakley Art Teacher Carrie Hooper designed this bulletin board featuring the art of Oakley staff members that was completed as a part of their Oaks on Board III Retreat several weeks ago.

Last week we welcomed Oakley staff back with treats, sweet notes, professional learning, and a cookout. This set us up to work together as a team this week welcoming the students.

Our hearts are so full having our amazing colleagues back in the building! Their energy, passion, and big smiles have immediately brought our hallways back to life. We are so excited to embark on our journey to grow our mighty oaks!

Last Thursday, staff and students met up at the Oakley Elementary playground for Pops with the Principal: Meet the New Assistant Principal. Everyone came out for a cool treat on a warm evening and extended a warm welcome to Mrs. Garcia, our new assistant principal.
