Joan Halifax is an American Zen Buddhist teacher, anthropologist, ecologist, civil rights activist, hospice caregiver, and author.

Her book The Fruitful Darkness draws strands of her wisdom into a single account of what she calls "the dark journey" — the descent that every visionary tradition requires before the return with light.

It's the last book in this month's Haden Resource Guide, and it feels like the right one to close with. Because what we're pointing at, in every section — the poems, the films, the music, the paintings — is the same movement: down, through, and back. With something to offer.
