We come across this myth SOOOOO often!! And it's SOOOO untrue! There is literally no evidence to support the claim that girls can't do math. Zero.

And it's so important to dispel this myth because so many girls grow up not even trying because of it! 😮

Math is a lot like a house - everything starts with the foundation!! We encounter students everyday who are struggling because they have knowledge gaps. We pinpoint those missing pieces and fill them in, building confidence and grades!

Every tutor here must pass a strict math test through Pre-Calc! And our assessments are created to identify and address the specific knowledge gaps and learning needs each student might have. For most folks, they had a hard time learning math and associate that pain with it. But it wasn't that math that hurt them. It was the person trying to teach them (and they probably didn't realize they were hurting someone).

Sometimes that person was ourselves, getting angry that we aren't learning as fast as others, or as we want.

But math doesn't want to hurt anyone! Being in a place where mistakes are ok to make and learn from is key. And that's our specialty here!

Sometimes we don't realize how we can pass on our attitudes in life. Math is one of those subjects that is deeply affected by attitude.

Students who grow up in a math positive home are MUCH more likely to do well in math.

To help create that math positive mindset, pay close attention to how you talk about your relationship with math. That way you can prevent your kids from inheriting your math issues.

If you loved our game nights, you’ll be blown away by our Game Camp! Each day we will focus on a type of game - Strategy games like Risk, Chess and Stratego; Cooperative games like Pandemic, Codenames and Mysterium, Card games like spades, rummy and bridge (don’t worry, we won’t be teaching anyone gambling!), Engine Building games like Dominion, Wingspan and Splendor - and tons more! At the end of the week, kids will get to brainstorm and design their own games! Taught by Dr. Swann
