Our Lady Rockets won an incredible match on the road against the highly-ranked NBMS Hawks! Ten minutes into the game, Gemma Edwards made our first goal. Two minutes after that, Elina Russell made the second goal. Serena Coladonato scored our third goal just five minutes into the second half. We declared two MVPs for the game: Luz Huerta, who helped fight to win the ball and stayed strong despite a season-long injury and Elliette Little, who has improved immensely on the field since the beginning of the season. Let's go Lady Rockets!

On Thursday, March 5th, students from the Conexiones class at AC Reynolds Middle School traveled to the University of North Carolina at Greensboro (UNCG) to participate in a statewide debate on animal welfare and biodiversity protection. The event, titled "Conexiones para la Acción Diplomática," brought together around five hundred students from schools across North Carolina. Notably, AC Reynolds Middle School has been a representative from Buncombe County for four consecutive years.

This year was particularly historic for our program as student Evana Loli had the huge privilege to serve as the President of the event. To earn this prestigious role, Evana competed against 35 other schools across North Carolina. As President, she guided the opening speeches and demonstrated high standards of responsibility and leadership throughout the proceedings. We are so proud of her dedication, hard work, and the poise she showed in leading hundreds of her peers.

Hosted by Participate Learning, the event provided students with a unique opportunity to engage in diplomacy, critical thinking, and global problem-solving—all while using their bilingual skills. In addition to the debate, students enjoyed a guided tour of the UNCG campus, participated in engaging activities, and connected with other bilingual learners from across the state.

Representing the country of Barbados, AC Reynolds MS students crafted practical strategies to ensure animal welfare and biodiversity protection worldwide. Their participation highlighted the power of multilingual communication and global awareness in addressing pressing international issues.

"As their teacher, I couldn't be prouder of them. They worked hard, spent countless hours researching, and wrote a significant speech that they presented to hundreds of people. It is amazing to see what they can accomplish with their language skills and how their critical thinking, curiosity, and global awareness allow them to engage smoothly in discussions on global issues. Way to go, Rockets!"

This experience not only enriched students' understanding of animal welfare and biodiversity protection’s impact on society but also empowered them to use their voices as young leaders in the ever-evolving environmental landscape.
