As a stay-at-home mother longing to express more of my gifts in the world, I found myself practicing yoga on my bathroom floor - the only place I could find a little privacy.

During that season, I began working with Wild Oat flower essence.

One day, while resting in a wide-legged forward fold, a flash of inspiration arrived.

I suddenly saw how three of my deepest passions - yoga, plant wisdom, and women's healing - could weave together into meaningful offerings for my community.

Within days, opportunities began appearing. Within weeks, an entirely new chapter of my life had begun.

Coincidence?

Maybe.

But after years of working with flower essences, I've come to believe that plants can help us hear what our soul already knows.

In this week's podcast episode, I share the full story and explore a question that continues to fascinate me:

🌿 What if your yoga practice was supported by a specific plant ally?

🌾 What if flowers could help illuminate your purpose?

🦋🌺What if the feeling that something is missing isn't a personal failure - but a symptom of disconnection from the living world?🌺🦋

We spend our days under artificial lights, moving from screen to screen, wondering why we feel depleted, anxious, or uninspired.

Yet Thich Nhat Hanh reminds us:

“All of us, children and adults, are beautiful flowers.
Our eyelids are exactly like rose petals, especially when our eyes are closed.
Our ears are like morning glories listening to the sounds of birds.
Our lips form a beautiful flower every time we smile.
And our two hands are a lotus flower with five petals.
The practice is to keep our “flowerness” alive and present, not just for our own benefit but for the happiness of everyone”. ~ Thich Nhat Hanh

What if healing begins when we stop seeing ourselves as separate from Nature?

What if the flowers are not simply beautiful, but teachers, mirrors, and allies?

🌺 Join us inside the Flower Essence Certification and discover how the wisdom of flowers can help restore connection, resilience, and a deeper sense of belonging.

Do you feel worthy?

In the Hatha Yoga Pradipika, Swami Muktibodhananda, a yogini from Australia, writes that in this age of Kali Yuga, the order of practice of how to be a yogi is rearranged slightly from the traditional, classical yoga approach.

The Yamas and Niyamas in the classical system are brought in first, before any physical movement or meditation. The steps therefore include learning first how to do no harm, stay honest and clean, manage your energy, invoke your will for practice, attain contentment, and so on — all before beginning asana.

But as she writes in 1985:
"In this day and age, too many problems can arise if an aspirant comes into direct confrontation with his mind at the beginning of the spiritual quest. It is like running from a den of lions into a cage of tigers. Therefore in Hatha Yoga, the whole system has been designed for the people of Kali Yuga. Hatha Yoga commences with the purification of the body (shatkarmas), then comes asana and pranayama. Yama and Niyama can be practiced later, when the mind has become stable and its outward-going tendencies can be controlled."

For fun, and a bit more support for your self-study and your mind, I have written about Ahimsa from my own perspective as a practicing Ta**ra yogini.

You can find the inspiring read for free, over on our Wild Temple Substack. This is an excerpt from my book, Under the Banyan. xobrooke

🌾 EPISODE 5: Why Milky Oats Matter

Throughout this journey, we've explored resilience, nervous system restoration, Ojas, growth, and the wisdom of learning to truly see the plants around us.

But why does any of this matter?

Because our ability to meet life fully is deeply connected to the state of our nervous system.

When we're depleted, stressed, or constantly operating in survival mode, it becomes difficult to access our creativity, vitality, focus, pleasure, and deeper spiritual awareness.

Milky Oats are cherished for their ability to nourish and replenish the nervous system, helping us rebuild from the inside out. As the body receives nourishment, we become more resilient, more present, and more capable of engaging with both the demands of daily life and the depth of spiritual practice.

In Ta**ra, awakening is not about escaping the body. It is about becoming fully embodied - fully alive, present, and available to the richness of life.

Sometimes that journey begins with something as simple and profound as nourishment.

🌿 How do you nourish yourself when life asks a lot of you?

Share your thoughts below.

✨ Thank you for joining us on this exploration of Milky Oats, plant wisdom, and the path of embodied vitality.

🌾 EPISODE 4: The Milky Oats Doppelgänger

When we slow down and enter into a relationship with the natural world, we begin to notice something important:

Not everything is what it first appears to be.

After Hurricane Helene, many of the fields and landscapes of Western North Carolina looked forever changed. Yet, in her resilience, nature has returned with incredible abundance.

Today, standing in a field that has recovered from the storm, we're meeting one of Milky Oats' look-alikes—a plant often mistaken for the beloved nervous system tonic.

Learning plant wisdom isn't just about memorizing benefits or recipes. It's about observation, relationship, and developing the ability to truly see.

The more time we spend with the plants, the more they reveal their unique qualities, teachings, and gifts.

🌿 Have you ever mistaken one plant for another? Let us know below.

✨ Follow along as we continue exploring Milky Oats, resilience, and the wisdom of the living world.

💫When your nervous system feels safe, life naturally wants to expand✨

🌿 EPISODE 3: Ojas, Growth & Expansion

In Ayurveda, Ojas is often described as the subtle essence of vitality - the deep reserve that supports resilience, immunity, creativity, joy, and our capacity to thrive.

When Ojas is depleted, we may feel contracted, exhausted, overwhelmed, or disconnected from life's natural abundance.

When Ojas is cultivated, something remarkable happens: growth becomes possible.

Just as healthy ecosystems flourish through nourishment and diversity, we too expand when our bodies, minds, and spirits receive what they need to thrive.

Milky Oats are one of the many plant allies traditionally used to replenish and support this deeper reservoir of vitality. By nourishing the nervous system, they help create the conditions for restoration, resilience, and renewed possibility.

In the ta***ic view, growth is not about forcing or striving. It emerges naturally when we are rooted, nourished, and connected to life.

🌾 Where in your life are you being invited to grow, expand, or deepen your roots?

Share below.

✨ Follow along as we continue exploring the wisdom of Milky Oats, Ojas, and the path of embodied vitality.
