We value lifelong learning and believe that each child’s first 2,000 days are crucial.

Buncombe Partnership for Children is on a mission to strengthen the capacity of educators, families, and the community to build a strong foundation for children’s learning and development beginning at birth. The majority of brain development happens during the first 2,000 days—the 5 years between birth and kindergarten—forming the foundation for all future learning. This is why Buncombe Partnershi

120 early childhood educators showed up today for Conscious Discipline training, and we are so grateful for every one of you. This approach is all about building calm, connected classrooms, starting with us as adults getting steady first, so kids can learn to do the same by watching us. Thank you for giving your day to this important work.

I is for Interdependence 💙

No one is meant to parent alone. Interdependence means leaning on the people who show up: a grandparent offering wisdom, a partner who's by your side, a friend who listens, or a community providing support when it's needed most.

Strong families aren't built by one person alone. They grow when parents have a broad support network and the resources needed to thrive. Click the links in comments to find your support network.

Join us in welcoming Val Renshaw to the team!

As an Early Childhood Specialist, Val will be working alongside early childhood educators and program leaders to support their growth and strengthen the programs that help young children thrive.

We asked Val what she loves most about her work:

"I enjoy working with early childhood educators and leaders because they are champions for children, families, and communities. Supporting their professional growth and helping them strengthen their programs allows me to contribute to lasting, positive impacts on the lives of young children."

When she's not working, you'll likely find her spending time with family, cooking, or baking something delicious.

Val's favorite children's book is The Three Questions by Jon J. Muth. She loves its powerful message that the most important time is now, the most important person is the one you're with, and the most important thing is to do good for others. The story's themes of empathy, mindfulness, and meaningful relationships reflect the values she brings to her work every day.
