Summer is here, and our Pre-College Programs are welcoming a record number of students! ☀️🎓

UNC Asheville welcomed 113 high school students to campus this week. They traveled from across the country and around the world, including Texas, California, and several international locations.

Students are spending the week exploring Creative Writing, Ceramic Pottery, Geology & Adventure, Engineering & Mechatronics, Wildlife Wonders, and Pre-Med.

Next week, 95 more students will arrive for Film Scoring, Music Composition, Game Design & AI, River Ecology, and Meteorology. That brings this summer's total enrollment to 208 students, the largest Pre-College cohort in program history.

Fall 2026 is quickly approaching, and we can't wait to welcome the newest Bulldogs! 🐾 First-Year Seminars are one of the things that make UNC Asheville special — they're intentionally designed to help students build a foundation of belonging, push past their comfort zone, and start creating real community from day one. Small classes, passionate faculty, and topics students actually want to explore make all the difference.

Big news for GTCC students! 🎉

UNC Asheville and Guilford Technical Community College | GTCC have signed a new agreement guaranteeing admission to eligible students who complete an associate degree with a 2.0 GPA or higher, with all eligible credits transferring. Students can begin the free, streamlined enrollment process by completing a short online form, giving them early access to financial aid resources, course registration, and orientation support.

Western North Carolina’s next generation of healthcare leaders is being prepared right here at UNC Asheville.

Through internships, mentorship, and applied learning experiences, students are gaining the skills and confidence to step directly into healthcare roles that serve our region. These opportunities connect classroom learning with real-world practice, helping build a stronger, more prepared workforce for the communities that need it most.

Grab a blanket, pull up a lawn chair, and join us on Reynolds Green (Mini-Quad) for three free outdoor screenings under the stars this summer. Enjoy lawn games and music starting at 7:30 p.m., plus Hilltop Ice Cream on site, then settle in for a great film at dusk.

Big news! 🔬 Professor of Biology, Ted Meigs, Ph.D. has become the first UNC Asheville faculty member to receive a National Cancer Institute grant — $430,000 to research how proteins contribute to cancer growth, alongside five of our own undergraduate students.
