Life On A Loom

What a great group of women with whom to spend the day weaving amulets at the Center for Art and Spirit at St. George. Loved it! Thank you for sharing stories, encouragement, and laughter.

Yesterday was a beautiful day for Organicfest. The Story Loom was set up right in the middle so everyone could join in. See the transformation that happened from 10am to 4:45pm. This year's theme was "Bee Organic". Can you find the tree with hanging bee hive? A skep? Flying bees?

It was presented to Phyllis Stiles for Bee City USA and will hang at the Black Mountain Center for the Arts during their Bee Exhibit which opens on Sept. 10.

Had my Story Loom up at LAAFF (Lexington Avenue Art and Fun Festival) and Organicfest the last two weekends. Now it's time for some relaxation with a Life-Weaving retreat. Get your name in for this week, Wednesday and Thursday 9am-1pm.

Check out Claxton Elementary School's art garden. As an artist in residence I get to work with their awesome second-graders, weaving tapestries depicting various life cycles.

Claxton A+: A Day in the Art Garden

Here I am, with my two pieces, at the 5 Walnut Wine Bar opening reception for the TAPAS "Show and Tell". It was a wonderful reception. Thanks to Kristie Quinn of 5 Walnut and Erica Bell and Kate Pett of Asheville City Schools Foundation for this wonderful event. The exhibit will remain up through the end of December. Stop by to see the work of some of Asheville's talented teaching artists.

Come see a couple of my pieces on display. Opening reception is 5:30-8:30. The exhibit will continue for the rest of the month, so if you can't make it Thursday you can still check out my work as well as the work of other outstanding teaching artists in Asheville.

The Laurel Of Asheville Magazine : Asheville Lifestyle, Communities, Arts & Culture On December 5, stop by 5 Walnut Wine Bar for an exhibit that shares something special about those who bring art into public schools. Proceeds benefit Teaching Artists Presenting in Asheville Schools (TAPAS) program.

The LEAF community (Lake Eden Arts Festival) wove three tapestries over the course of the weekend. Lots of fun creating art together. We were set up right next to the main stage. Weaving while dancing! What a great time!
