๐๐ DIG into a book this summer, with the Asheville-Buncombe Library System's Summer Reading Program -- the theme this summer is "Unearth a Story!"
The kickoff event is coming THIS FRIDAY, June 6 from 10AM to 1PM at the East Asheville Library. Events are scheduled at various library branches throughout the county all summer.
Dig into a good book and discover a world of prehistoric possibilities at Buncombe County Public Libraries. This summer, โunearth a storyโ and explore fossils, dinosaurs, and more through hands-on programs for youth of all ages. Itโs sure to be a roaring good time for young readers and future paleontologists alike.
The BCPL 2026 Summer Reading Program runs June 1-August 31. To participate in the program, visit any library location after June 1 to pick up an engaging activity sheet for kids or teens. Complete any ten activities and return the sheet to your library. Receive a free book and a bookmark redeemable for a scoop of ice cream at The Hop!
Kickoff Summer Reading in a big way at our Summer Library Fest on Saturday, June 6 at East Asheville Library located at 3 Avon Rd. in Asheville. This family friendly event runs from 10am โ1pm with a New Orleans style second line parade headlining at noon. Get ready to put your dancing shoes on! BCPL welcomes you to celebrate with art and crafts, community partners, games, face painting, free ice cream from The Hop and live music by Jonathan Lloyd and Friends. This summer celebration is made possible by local Friends of the Library chapters and the hard work of our youth services librarians.
