need places and spaces in which they can be given the opportunity to be trusted with their own learning, to have some autonomy, to practice exploring what aspects of learning really light them up, to be given a little bit of space, and to be in charge of their own learning environment. One of the primary ways that comes into play at Omega Middle School, when we think about the expansive nature of learning, is through our electives program.

At Rainbow Community School, students are taught to engage all of their senses. A strategy for slowing down the learning environment and turning from answers to experiences. The power of observation helps students independently explore a problem when the answer is not obvious to them and work through the learning in stages.

Today, we celebrate our Alumni Class of 2022 who just graduated from high school! It is a Rainbow tradition to invite our alumni back to campus following their completion of high school, gifting them with a small singing bowl to root them into their time at Rainbow and carry them into their next phase of life. We are proud of these young adults and are delighted that they returned to our campus for celebration and reconnection.

Our series of graduation posts wouldn't be complete without also highlighting and celebrating the growth and achievements of our 4th-7th grade classes. From sharing highlights about their year, wisdom they have learned over the year, to quotes that reflect their journey, these students are one step closer to giving their own graduate speeches at a graduation over the next few years. We are proud of the young people these students are growing into!

To say that we are proud of our graduating class of 2026 would be an understatement. This group of students have formed deep connections with one another, their 7th grade peers, teachers, and students in the younger grades. About half of the graduating class have been at Rainbow Community School since preschool... and those that joined us later in their academic journeys feel as if they've been with us all along. It has been a pleasure and a privilege to be stewards of their educational journey and we look forward to seeing where they will go beyond our doors.
