Join us this Friday, January 16th, as Asheville High School proudly celebrates the induction of our inaugural Athletic Hall of Fame class! This historic ceremony will take place between the Varsity Girls and Varsity Boys basketball games against Erwin High School, honoring a premier group of legendary athletes and coaches whose achievements and character have defined the tradition of excellence at Asheville High. To launch this new tradition, we are formally enshrining those whose jerseys have been retired or whose names grace our facilities, while also paying vital tribute to our roots by including four distinguished individuals representing the exceptional athletic heritage of Stephens-Lee and Lee Edwards High Schools. We invite the entire Asheville community to pack the stands and help us honor these outstanding individuals and the lasting legacy they have left on our schools.

Before winter break, Asheville High School juniors had the opportunity to connect with ACS alumni across career fields including finance, public relations, education, and the medical field. As part of their career exploration project, students used the Backrs Blueprint to think intentionally about their future and the life they want to build. Our ACS alumni showed up in a big way for our current students, and we thank them for sharing their time, insight, and experience.
A huge shout out to Amanda Galvin and Erika Germer for curating this meaningful experience for our juniors!

Dr. Stan Gordon kicked off the school year with a $10,000 gift - now it's OUR turn to show up for our Asheville City Schools. Your Giving Tuesday donation powers the incredible DREAM Team high school mentors, who work side-by-side with middle schoolers in the In Real Life (IRL) After-School program. These paid mentors are steady, caring near-peers who show up for students every single week– and when you give, you’re fueling their leadership journey from IRL all the way through 12th grade.
Let's grow our own, Alumni! WE NEED YOU!!!

Our favorite part of last night’s AMS Open House was seeing our alumni come back to support the place where it all started — including alum Sam Duncan (‘20), who joined the panel to demystify the middle school experience. Sam and other alumni spoke with families about how their ACS education set them apart in college, not just academically, but as thinkers, leaders, and community-minded humans.
Thank you Sam (‘20), Mo (‘20), Kasiya (‘19), and Tracey (‘08)! ❤️🐾

Today we celebrate the life of James E. Ferguson, II, ACS alumnus and founder of ASCORE. His legacy is large and continues to unfold in programs like our Racial Equity Ambassador Program.
